Do you accept Purchase Orders (P.O.s)?
Yes, we do accept Purchase Orders, but only from institutions within the U.S. and Canada. Simply submit your organization’s official purchase order to us via fax or mail – or supply the official purchase order number in your online order – and we’ll invoice you at terms net 30! Alternatively, your organization may elect to prepay via check or official purchasing credit card. (NOTE: Prior to fulfilling your order, we may request that your organization complete a simple Customer Information Form.)

Are you registered as an “official vendor” with my state, school system, etc.?
Video Aided Instruction is registered as an “official vendor” with hundreds of governmental and academic institutions around the country. If you discover that we are not registered as an official vendor, supplier, or source for your specific organization, please let us know: Video Aided Instruction would be more than happy to “jump through the necessary hoops” to register — simply send us detailed instructions for this proper procedure via email, fax, or mail. Alternatively, please note that our products are available through dozens of popular distributors of DVD merchandise; you can always use our UPCs or ISBNs to check whether your favorite supplier carries the Video Aided Instruction product line!

What forms of payment do you accept?
Consumers within the United States and Canada may pay by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) or money order; sorry, no personal checks or C.O.D.s. Institutions within the United States and Canada may pay by official purchasing credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover) or official check. Depending on their order total, international customers may pay via credit card or wire transfer. (Sorry, at this time we do not accept payment via PayPal.)

I want to mail in my order (with my payment). How do I know how much to send?
The process is very simple: just follow the usual procedure for ordering merchandise online: find products you want to buy, click on their BUY NOW! buttons, click on “ your shopping cart,” and then follow the instructions to checkout. Then fill out the order form, print it out, and send it in with your payment. By following these instructions, you’ll be able to select the appropriate shipping & handling, and we’ll have all the information we need in order to process your order. Sorry, no personal banking checks.

How much is shipping & handling?
Our shipping & handling charges vary by a) the size of your order; b) your geographical location; and c) the shipping method you select (“REGULAR” vs. “EXPRESS”). To calculate the exact shipping & handling charge for an order, simply place all of the desired merchandise into your shopping cart — your specific shipping & handling options will appear on the same page.

When will my order arrive?
Well, that depends on a) what shipping options you choose and b) your geographical location. (All shipments originate from the metropolitan New York area.) Typically, “REGULAR” shipping takes 3–8 business days and “EXPRESS” shipping takes 1–3 business days. Allow up to an additional 2 business days for order processing, and you can calculate the time window within which your order should arrive.

Do you offer previews?
Well, yes and no. For details, please access Video Aided Instruction’s official Returns Policy for your customer type. A few years back, we replaced our Free Preview/Demo Policy with this simpler Returns Policy. (Upon review, the vast majority of our customers were electing to purchase their previews once they evaluated them, resulting in redundant paperwork. In our Returns Policy for institutions, you’ll see that we offer you 30 days to evaluate our products prior to payment/return. However, institutions must first submit official purchase orders for our products, not requests for merchandise “on preview,” “on spec,” or “on approval.”)

One of the DVD discs I purchased has been lost or damaged. How do I replace it?
As a courtesy to our customers who have purchased our DVDs, we have instituted a no-hassle replacement policy for single discs (whether they came from a multiple-disc set or a single-disc product). The cost for each replacement disc is $39.95, plus Shipping & Handling (typically $9.95 for U.S. Regular).
For
institutions within the United States and Canada, here’s the procedure: simply fax us a Purchase Order for the single disc in question, along with one of the following: 1) a photocopy of the face of the actual disc; 2) a photocopy of the disc’s packaging; or 3) a copy of your original purchase order, invoice, or receipt that includes the product. Please be sure your purchase order specifically identifies which disc you need replaced if it came from a multiple-disc set!
For
consumers within the United States and Canada, here’s the procedure: simply fax us one of the following: 1) a photocopy of the face of the actual disc; 2) a photocopy of the disc’s packaging; or 3) a copy of your original invoice or receipt that includes the product. Then promptly call us at 1-800-238-1512 (or 516-939-0707) to provide your exact ordering and shipping address and your credit card information. Please be sure to specifically identify which disc you need replaced if it came from a multiple-disc set!

Are your DVDs movies or are they software? Do they play in computers?
Video Aided Instruction’s DVDs are “movie” DVDs of real teaching by real teachers – they are not software or DVD-ROMs. That means that they are designed to play properly in the vast majority of conventional DVD players for television sets worldwide (just like other “movie” DVDs) and in 100% of computer-based DVD drives worldwide (be they DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD±RW, or everyday DVD-ROM drives). Of course, like all DVD discs, ours do not play in computer-based CD drives.

In what formats are your DVDs encoded? Do they work all over the world (that is, outside the U.S. & Canada)?
Video Aided Instruction’s DVDs are true replicated DVD-5 discs (not DVD-R or DVD+R discs). They are encoded in NTSC format with Region 0 (also called “Region-Free”) encoding. According to Jim Taylor’s respected DVD FAQ, Video Aided Instruction’s DVDs play properly on virtually every DVD system worldwide. (The exceptions are very old DVD systems that accommodate DVDs in PAL format only.)

Do your products include Public Performance Rights?
The short answer is: Yes, Video Aided Instruction’s products include limited Public Performance Rights. The longer answer is: Video Aided Instruction generally allows our DVD and VHS programs to be used for small group non-theatrical and non-commercial public performances that can be construed as having an educational or instructional purpose, as long as no fee is charged for such use. Of course, this note in no way minimizes, extends, or supersedes Video Aided Instruction's rights as copyright holders. In addition, the U.S. Copyright Act of 1976 includes a very important clause about the performance or exhibition of audiovisual works called the “classroom exemption.” This section of the Act permits the performance of an audiovisual work by instructors or pupils in the course of face-to-face teaching activities of a non-profit educational institution in a classroom or similar place devoted to instruction. Also, this exemption has often been interpreted to apply to private educational institutions — like colleges and universities — that charge tuition or other fees to meet operating expenses.

Do your products include Closed Circuit Rights?
The short answer is: sometimes. That is, Video Aided Instruction sometimes grants limited Closed Circuit Rights to its customers. The longer answer is: Because of the complexities involved, Video Aided Instruction needs to negotiate these rights directly with the end user. If you are interested in negotiating these rights, please contact us.

Are your products Closed Captioned for the hearing impaired?
In order to maximize time efficiency when teaching through DVD and video, Video Aided Instruction’s products rely quite heavily on simultaneous audio instruction (spoken teaching by the instructor) and video instruction (text graphics on-screen). Therefore, since their teaching pace is so brisk, our products simply do not lend themselves to closed captioning for the hearing impaired. We understand that many institutions are mandated to preferentially purchase DVD and video products that are closed captioned; nonetheless, usually a caveat exists for purchasing non-closed-captioned content for which no closed-captioned counterpart exists. We trust you’ll agree that our productions fall into this latter category. With closed captioning (or subtitling) engaged, the black bars and/or text would obscure the abundant text graphics and/or chalkboard writing in our products so thoroughly as to render them virtually unusable.
